A FORCED LANDING
KIRKWOOD’S NARROW ESCARE. (Rec. April 5, 10.15 p.m.) New York, April 4. A telegram from Ellerbe, North Carolina, “says that Kirkwood, tho golfer, who left Pinehurst cn route for Asheville m an aeroplane piloted bv James Cole, had a narrow escape from death. The ’plane was caught in an electrical storm, causing a short circuit in tho magneto, and was compelled to make a forced landing. Kirkwood escaped injury, but Cole had three ribs broken. —Aus.-N.Z, Camo Assn.
