• A STORY ABOUT EGG-LAYING
by Telegraph.—press association. Christchurch, April 4. A Press cablegram from London, dated March 22, stated that an analytical chemist, giving evidence before the Court, said that ten tons of dead cits and dogs were collected in London every week and boiled down tor fowl food, and that practically all egglaying mixtures were made of the remains of eats and dogs. In reply to this cablegram .Messrs. Fairbairn, Wright, and Co., have received the following message: ‘The case was wrongly, reported, and thenet result a huge joke. Witness himself lias repudiated the statement and publisher! a denial. Every responsible manufacturer is indignant, and Karswood has offered £5OOO reward to anyone who can prove there is the slightest foundation for such silly nonsense.”
