RUGBY CONTROL

WELLINGTON UNION MEETS HUTT ELEVATED TO SENIOR GRADE Various matters, in connection with the coming Rugby season were considered at the first meeting of the Wellington Rugby Union’s newly-elected Management Commit toe last evening* Mr. J. Prendeville presided over a full attendance of members. An application was made by the Hutt Club for ,promotion to senior status. The reason for the request was stated to be mainly for the purpose or combating- the League game m the district. During a discussion on the matter members expressed the opinion that it was in the interests of the camo in the suburban district that the club should bo elevated, even though there was the possibility of creating a byo each Saturday. A motion -that the Hutt Club’s entry of a senior team be accepted was carried unanimously. Easter and Special Fixtures. The Oriental and Marist Clubs were granted permission to plav matches with visiting teams nt Athletic Park on Easter Saturday, and Petone. Wellington, Berhampore, and Johnsonville were given leave to travel. . It was arranged to play special matches between two senior teams on April 7 and 14, in aid of gymnasium funds. 'Tickets sold by players will bo devoted to the fund of the club thev represent, while’ the gate proceeds will augment tho general gymnasium fund. Sub-Committees. Sub-committees were appointed as follow:—Transfer, Messrs. Perry and Laws, and Father Kano ; Finance, Messrs. Prendeville, G. F. Jackson, AV. J. Hardham, and S. G. Me; Postponement, Messrs. Hardham, Perry, and Laws; Drawin";, Messrs. G. F. Jackson, Millard, and Hardham. Playing Over Age. Advice was received from Wellington College regretting that the sixth class team which won the championship last season had played a lad over age. The offender is to be asked to attend the next meeting of the committee. It was decided to notify other clubs that all age certificates must be in the hands of the secretary ■ by April 14. The Opening Games. It was "decided to commence the season’s competitions on April 21. The closing date for entries was fixed at April 12.
