/Archbishop Zepliak, of Petrograd, Roman Catholic Primate of Russia, and sixteen priests, have been tried on three charges—(l) Opposing a decree separating Church and State • (2) opposing the requisition of Church treasures; (3) organising'an agitation designed to close the churches with the object of embarrassing the Soviet’s relations with the Vatican.
Archbishop Zepliak and one priest, Budkevitch, wore sentenced to death. Fifteen priests were sentenced to imprisonmnt for terms ranging from ten to three years. —Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
