NEW POWER-HOUSE
TO BE COMPLETED IN JULY A visit to the new power-house was paid by the Mayor (Mr. R A. Wright, M.P.) yesterday morning. He found the work well advanced. The last of the roof of the main building and skylight is now being put on, and the contractors confidently anticipate completing their work in July—three weeks before contract time. Some of the new machinery has already arrived, but it is still lying in its cases. The contractors have yet .to erect within the building massive concrete foundations for the big turbines. Provision has been made outside for the reclamation of a considerable area of land through the discharge of ashes from the power-house furnaces. Mr. M. Cable, electrical engineer, who has been Home making arrangements about the machinery' for the power-house, is expected to aiijye in Wellington about tho second week in April.
