AMATEUR ATHLETICS

Owing to the> record number of entires for the Victoria University College’s inter-faculty sports to be held at Kelburn Park next Saturday, the success of tho meeting seems assured. Great keenness is being shown by all the athletes of tho college, and the entries constitute something like a record. Some of our best athletes hail from the college, and Griffen, Tracy. Whitehead. Leadbetter, MacCormick, Alalfroy, Davis, Paul, and others of no mean order will compete. The programme includes all championship events, from 100 yards to three miles. There, are three open events, the 220 yards, 880 yards, and 150 yards ladies’ handicap, for which good entries have been received. After the conclusion of tlie meeting the team t<\ represent the college at the New Zealand .inter-university tournament at Dunedin at Easter will be selected There will bo no charge for admission but a collection to defray expenses will be taken up on the ground.
