The death occurred of Mrs. Humphrey Callister at her late residence, “Brooklyn,”’ Carterton, early on Saturday morning. Mrs. Callister, who was one of Carterton’s earliest settlers, was the daughter of the late Air. Robert Dixon, who arrived in New Zealand in 1857. For the past ten months Mrs. Callister had been confined to her bod, and bore her sufferings patiently and cheerfully. She leaves a husband and large family. The funeral, which was private, took place on Sunday morning, and was conducted by the Rev Peryman Tire executive meeting of the Residential Nursery, 137 Owen Street, was held with Mrs. Porter in tho chair. Tho matron’s report was received and adopted, the details of which were highly satisfactory. Special thanks were accorded Misses Bonnett, Mantell, and Sheppard. A letter with a donation of £l. from a mother whose baby had been in the nursery was much appreciated. Mrs. G. M. Morris (treasurer), reported the following donations-.—Per Mrs. James Findlay, Mrs. Hope Lewis, £5; Airs. T. Young, £2: Mrs. Joseph, £2 25.; Air. D. AfcOrao, £1 Is.; Airs. Hogan, £1 ; Karori branch, 135.; AA’adestomi branch, £G; Feiiding branch, £2O. Hearty votes of thanks were passed to tho Feiiding branch for its generous gift and to Airs. James Findlay and Mrs. Spear for organising the jumble sale which brought in the satisfactory sum of £5B. AVeddings to bo artistic .must have Bouquets to harmonise with frocks.
