DROWNED IN WAIKATO RIVER

RY TZLEGHAPH.—I’BEFB ASSOCIATION. Cambridge, March 14. A fatality occurred in the Waikato River about 8 p.m. yesterday. Three men, Thomas Chard, Daniel Grinder, aiid Ftank Dempsey, and two boys, were fishing for .eels neq-r. the Cambridge Wharf. In attempting to set a lamp, Chard fell into the river and disappeared. H© grabbed one of the fishing lines which broke, and he was seen no more. Chard, who was unable to swim, was barman at tho Masonic Hotel, and a married man with a wife and six young children.
