THE STOP-OUT CLUB
To The editor. Sir, —In view of the prominence given to the above club by tho daily papers Jn conneoti«n with tho A'eceiiM lire alarm-breaking cases, I flunk it desirable that some explanation should be given. In. the first place, cnly one boy out of tho seven was a member of the Stop-Out Club, and he only a now member. The Stop-Out Club is a boys’ and young men’s club, run .in connection with St. Peter’s Mission, the objects of the club being the furtherance of the, spiritual, mental, and moral welfare of the boys. It should easily be recognised how difficult it is to inculcate in all members the ideals for which the club stands —it is a gradual and slow process, and in some cases is unsuccessful. The dub is not the cause of such things as the case in question represents, it docs its best to make such happenings impossible; but it does deal with boys who might Indulge in such happenings. I am tho Founder and the president of (the club, the name is purely a name in much the some way as the “Savage Club” Is a name. All our members regret very much that tho name of the dub should have been brought into the kbove proceedings. Thanking you for inserting this letter.—l am, etc., 1 T.. FEILDEN TAYLOR.
