ACCIDENT ON MARAMA
MAN STRUCK BY FALLING COAL. As the result of an accident on the steamer Mamma yesterday morning, a married man mimed Thomas Hickey, residing at 308 Taranaki Street, sustained injuries 'to his head. It is stated that he was engaged in unloading cargo from the vessel, which was simultaneously taking in bunkers, when a piece of coal slipped from a basket, striking him on the head and indicting a painful scalp wound. Hickey was admitted to the Hospital at 11.15 a,in. suffering from concussion, and at a late hour was reported to be making satisfactory progress.
