EDUCATION BOARD

- MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Wellington Education Board was held yesterday, 'Chore were present: Messrs. R. A. Wright, M.P., C. I. Harkness, E. P. Rishworth, T Moss, A. J. MTirte, G. T. London, J. J. Clark, W. H. Field, M.P., E. H. Penny D. McCallum, and W. T. Grundy. In tho unavoidable absence of the chairman (Mr. T. Forsyth) Mr. Wright was voted to the chair. The Education Department notified that a grant of £32 Bs. 3d. had been authorised for a shelter-shed at Ngaumu, a similar amount to bo provided, from the rebuilding fund. An additienul grant of £66 19s. was approved for Tua Marina, and £33 15s. for Wantwood. Tho renting of the Presbyterian Church-room for one month was authorised at Khandallah. A grant of £32 waa approved for a partition at the Training College. The board was authorised to rent the Town Hall at South Miramar for one month. A grant of £lB 16s. sd. was authorised for a shelter-shed at Poroporo; a similar amount to be provided from the rebuilding fund. The Department considered that any additional accommodation in tho Lyall Bay area should be provided by addition to South Miramar School. The Department advised that tho request of To Oro Ore for separation must be deferred at prosent.—On the motion of Mr. Grundy, seconded by Mr. Moss, it was decided to extend education an this school to the fourth standard. An application for the reopening of a school at Wangaehu was approved, subject to the approval of tho inspector. The application for the establishment of a school at Trentham was referred to the executive. It was decided to request the Government to appoint a drawing instructor for tho district and provide his salary.
