HARBOUR BOARD

MONTHLY MEETING. Mr- J. G. Harkness presided at tho monthly meeting of the Wellington Harbour Board held last evening. The financial statement was as follows Current account, credit, £48.091 15s. 5d.; imprest account, credit. £4.602 2s. sd. Payments—lnterest, accounts, claims, and wages, £36,483 55.; progress payments on contracts, £146 Ils--Bd.; salaries for February. £1703 19s. 9d Leave of absence was granted to Captain McArthur and Mr. J. Leuchare. By-law 271 was repealed, and another one enacted, providing that the call or berthage fee for ferry boats using any suburban wharf bo 4s. instead of 35., as heretofore. Letters were received from Admiral Gillot thanking tho board for the courtesy and consideration shown to the officers of the Jules Michelet during her stay in Wellington. Similar letters were received from tho French Vice-Consul (Mr. O. R. Bendall), and from Mr. J. W. Collins, of the Industries and Commerce Department for courtesies shown to the members of the French commercial mission.
