WOMAN COMMITS SUICIDE.
The adjourned inquest touching the death of Isohel Anne Hulbert was concluded by the Coroner (Mr. W. G. Riddell, IS.M.) yesterday. . . A report submitted by the Dominion Analyst indicated that there were signs of poison in the portion of tho body analysed.
Frederick Castles, a chemist, gave evidence regarding tho sale of four drachms of a certain poison to deceased, who had stated that she required it for the purpose of -poisoning a dog. Witness had known deceased for some years, and on the day she visited his shop she appeared to be in good health, and showed no signs of depression. .Tames Brooks Hulbert, a secondhand dealer, residing at. 187 AVilhs Street, stated that his wife had been under medical attention for some years for insomnia. In ihe early hours of Sunday morning last he advised her not to tike a further dose of the sleen’ng draught which had been prescribed for her complaint, but tivo hours later be found that she was lying (in bod motionless. Witness railed bis son, who summoned Dr. Agnes Bonnett. Later, he discovered a note from his wife pinned on Ins shirt, ’ndic.aring that she intended to take the po'son. Deceased had frequently expressed the wish that she we-- dead.
