London, January 17.
Tho “Daily Mail” says a remarkable situation, which may develop in a legal action, has arisen in regard to the control of the Conservative Party funds.
Lord Farquhar, one of three trustees in whose control the funds are vested, has refused to consent to their use by Mr. Bonar Law’s party. He takes the view that lie is trustee on behalf of tho party of which Mr. Austen Chamberlain was the leader. As Air. Chamberlain is not the leader of the present party, tho trustee declines to part with any of the moiiey. The money is at present required to meet the expenditure on the recent elctions. It will be remembered that when the new Parliament met, Air. Chamberlain counselled his followers to support Mr ponar Law, though he expressed his belief that coalition with the Liberals would ultimately bo necessary.— Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
