WESTMINSTER GLEE SINGERS

The Town Hall was well patronised last evening, when, the Westminster Glee Singers submitted their fust change of programme. The items submitted again brought into prominence the national music of the British Isles, and proved a source of delight to all who were present. The singing throughout reflected every credit on the company, who confirmed the eulogistic opinions already exnressed. Encores were the rule, and were gramously responded to. The adults or tho company gave the glee, “0, tlio Sweet Contentment” (AV. Horslev), and, as a supplementary' number, “Tho Hunt is Up” (Hatton). The full company’s .items were the serenade, “Oh, by Rivers” (Sir Henry Bishop), and, as an encore, “Furl Up the Flag” (Coward) ; “A Cycle of English Airs” (arranged by Air. E. Branscombe). and responded to a recall with “Now is the Month of Maying” (Alorlev); the anthem. “Comfort, 0 Lord (Dr. Crotch), tho part-song, “fho Lass With the Delicate Air” (Arne), and, as an encore item, “Long Live tlm Kina” (German) the vocal waltz, “Come Join in the Dance.” and the added item, “The Bells of St. Abchael s Tower” (Stewart). Mr. Donald Re d’s male alto solo, “Tho Drowsy Woods, won a hearty recall, which he acknow* lodged by repeating the number. “The Yeomen of England” (German), by Air. Alfred Cunningham, was warmly encored. and- he conceded as an extra number. “To Antliea” (Hatton). Master Albert Conner won prolonged applause with “Cherry Ripe” (Hom), and added "Love Was Once a Little Bov” (Wade). Tho boys’ un’son song, “The Shepherd’s Dance” (German) was encored, so that they’ were required to add “Songs of Childhood CStorndn’e Bennett). Owing to slight indisposition, Mr. John Andrews, did not contribute his solo, but Alt. Cunningham gave, instead, “She is Far from tho Land” and ‘Robin Ranzo.” Other most enjoyable contributions were the quartet, ‘ lhe Forget-me-not” (Hatton), by the adult quartet, the old Irish air “1 he Gentle Maiden” bv Air. Ellis Vizard, and “Haste Yo, Soft Gales” (Martin) by the adults of the company lhe programme will be repeated this evening. Another complete chp- • is announced for the farewell concert on Saturday evening.
