The view from the top of Paekakariki Hill, which immediately presents itself to travellers from tho south, was greeted with exclamations of surprise and delight on Sunday by tho members of the Science Congress.. A party of fifty ladies and gentlemen journeyed by motors, ti Paraparauniu. As tho first party rsacbed tho top, loud exclamations from the visitors impressed thoso who had made tho trip before with tho grandeur and beauty of the view before them. Kapitj Island, majestically risiug from the sea, was the centre. Its ravines and ridges, densely covered with virgin bush, were clearly seen in the bright sunlight. Across tho picture, stretching north and south, were tho waters of the Tasman Soa. clear blue. The irregular peaks of the South Island, fringed with clouds, fleecy, and at times threatening, made a splendid background. Far Lolow was seen the beach, from Pukerua to Paraparauniu, with the waves lazily coming and going. A number of tiny dots indicated that bathers enjoy this splendid portion of the coast. The journey was continued, and the visitors were pleased to partake of the luncheon provided on arrival at Kapiti House, Paraparauniu, by Mrs. Pratley. After luncheon tjio partv visited some of the pretty bush scenes near AVaikanne, and also Mr. AV. H. Field’s residence. On the return Paraparauniu, afternoon tea was partaken of at Kapiti House, and all expressed their pleasure at the enjoyable outing. The return to AA’ellington was made as the sun was sinking, and a golden sunset added another charm of iha view from Paekakariki Hill-
