NEW SOUTH WALES WHEAT CROP

POOR AVERAGE YIELD. (Rec. January 16, 1.15 a.m.) Sydney, January 15. An official preliminary estimate of the New South Wales wheat yield is 29,090,000 bushels, and an average, of fouf bushels per acre, compared with 13.4 bushels last season. The poor average is chiefly due to the long-con-tinued drought in most of the wheat areas. Thirteen per cent, of the sowings totally failed.—Press Assn.
