The Ambassadors’ Conference has decided to make representations at Kovno to ensure that the Lithuanian Government shall arrest the movement against Memel, which is regarded as an attack on Allied sovereignty. It was also decided to send a French colonel to command the Allied troops at Memel, to which British and French warships are proceeding. The Lithuanian Government has officially declared that tho movement is a local rising, the natural sequel to the policy of Germanisation in defiance °f the wishes of the inhabitants, pursued by tho so-called “directorium, which the Germans established when they controlled the territory, and which since has not been modified. —Reuter.
