TRADE CONVENTION WITH BRITAIN CONSIDERED.

Delhi, January 12. The layout of the new Afghan capital at Chardeh, five miles from Kabul, has been completed. The construction of the Ameer’s palace has been commenced.

The Ameer is stadily pursuing a policy of retrenchment. Important reductions in thq size of the Army and in the salaries of officers and men are anticipated.

. Afghan trade delegates are now considering tho draft of an Anglo-Afghan trade < onvention at Jalalabad, whither British delegates are expected to return next week. They are at present conferring with tho Government in Delhi,- Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
