LEAGUE FOOTBALL
OPPOSITION IN ENGLAND TO AUSTRALIAN TOUR.
London, January 8. Tho “Athletic News” is surprised to find a strong feeling against sending a Rugby League team to Australia. Iho opinion in many circles is that tho council should not decide without consulting clubs, which contend that they should participate in the profits of the tour. The opponents of tho tour advance another reason, namely, that invariably players making the trip leave a big percentage cf their ability in Sydney. They don’t recover their skill for a lengthy period. In th© meantime the clubs are penalised unduly for allowing players to make the tour. On tho other hand, if the League desires to maintain an intimate connection with the unions in Australia and New Zealand, an interchange of visits i? essential. Tha first consideration should bo tha good of the gam© as a who!©.—Aus.-NiZ. Cable Assn.
