'I he Imys were assembled and addressed by Mr. Frederick H. C. Smith, who las b<en acting as mentor to the band during the Wellington season. In I'dding farewell, ho referred to the splendid and most exemplary behaviour of the boys, their marked punctuality, and the delightful music they had rendered. The lesson they had taught would be reechoed shortly, as he (the speaker) intended to organise a similar committee and band, representative of the Empire City. Mr. Smith said: “You boys are most fortunate in having such a splendid committee of management, who devote their time in your interests. and dearest of all.is your Landmaster (Mr. Fred. Lawn), who i; deserving of all the help yen can possibly given him, and may you carry on the good work without vid. I’have regarded it a privilege to bo able to assist you during your stay hero, which has been all too short. The people here are sorry to part with you wonderful musicians. Good-bye and good luck.” Bandmaster Lawn, of the 1 or.sonby Bovs Band, then called for flbeers for the help and assistance given by Mr. Smith. ■ .
