The hearing of the charge of inurdei made against John Finnigan, following the death of Con O’Keefe, a fireman on the Tredenham, was resumed to-day. Dr. Milson, who attended O’Keefe, stated that liis skull was fractured. There was also laceration in the interior of tlie brain, for which nothing could be done. Robert Mornsey, a fireman, said ho hoard Finnigan sny to O’Keefe aftei the assault: ‘‘Get up on your feet.' O’Keefe lay still. _ There was blood on his face. Finnigan was drunk on the afternoon of New Year’s Day, but npneared sober when ho assaulte' O’Keefe. The witness knew of n<> ill-feeling betwen the two men. Personallv ho did not think at the time that O’Keefe was seriously hurt. _ Finnigan was committed for trial, tho Magistrate refusing counsel s ple« to reduce the rhargo to ono of man slaughter, on tho ground of the absence of piotive for the graver charge.
