PRINCE OF WALES CUP FINAL. The play-off of the tie in the final of the Prince of Wales Cup at Mintmar between J. T. Tucker (2) and E. H. Liddlo (3) produced some of the best golf ever played in match of this sort at Miramar. It, will be remembered that the pair finished all square over the 36 holes last week. Tucker played very hot golf in ithe first round.' his putting especially being very deadly, and as the result of completing the last nine holes in 34 (2 under fours) found himself in the comfortable position of being 6 up. Liddle, whose tee shot had been troubling him a god deal then settled down, and put up a great up-hill fight. He lost the first hole, and was 7 down. The second was halved in 4, and Liddle then won the next three in 4 3 4 missed a short putt for a half nt Putiki, halved the next three, and turned 5 down. Liddlo won the tenth in 4, but another good 4 at Toitoi only produced a half. Tucker won “Coates’s Fancv” (where Liddle struck trouble in both rounds), and was sup with 6to play. Another good four won Liddle “The Outlook,” and a perfect teo shot left him an Sft. putt for a two at “Miramar.” His ball lipped the hole, and a half in 3 resulted, slid Tucker was dormy 4. Liddle had another Bft. ntitb for ■ a win in 3 at “The Crater,” but again the luck was against him, aud the hole being halved in 4 left Tucker the winner by 4 up and 3 to play at the sixty-ninth hole after a splendid contest. The remaining three-holes were played out. Liddle recording 77 and Tuokdr 79 for the round. Mr. K. D. Duncan acted as umpire for the match. WELLINGTON CLUB.
