FOR NEW PIPITEA WHARF Tenders are about to be called by the Wellington Harbour Board for what will he. far ithe largest and certainly the strongest wharf store in Wellington. This is the shed which is to cover the major part of the new Pipitea Wharf. It will be tho first steel and reinforced concrete shed to be erected on any wharf in Wellington, and as the Pipitea Wharf itself is of reinforced concrete the two structures will be one complete and concrete whole. Tenders, which are to ]>e advertised for immediately, will not close until the middle of next year. Eighteen months is the period allowed for construction. The shed is to be 760 feet long by 107 feet wide, ns measured between the centres of the corner columns, with n height inside to the underside*bf the ties of about 24 feet.
