INCOME TuAIX The recent reduction in Income Tax is naturally a welcome relief to the Taxpayer, and will doubtless be much appreciated. The legislation affecting Life Insurance premiums has also been liberalised but its benefits have not yet been fully availed of. It is perhaps not generally understood that whereas hitherto premiums up t<j £5O per annum could be deducted from the taxable Income the present .'law allows a deduction up to 15 per cent, of the earned income. Thus a man earning £lOOO p.a. who pays £l5O for Insurance premiums is only taxed on £B5O. This means a considerable saving in tax, and by reducing the net cost of the Insurance makes it a particularly profitable investment. A policy for £6250 recently effected by a Wellington business man aged 66 was secured at a net outlay of £360 p.a. Even should death not occur till age 73 the pblicy would show a return of 10 per cent. Compound Interest. Why not discuss this proposition with Messrs. Carr and Piper, Local Agents for the A.M.I?. Society? Telephone 1320.
