Vice-Rbgal. At the conclusion of the racing carnival in Christchurch His Excellency the Governor-General will pay official visits to Kaikoura, Blenheim, and Nelson. On November 14 he will unveil a war memorial at Waimate, on November 8 preside at the opening of the Dominion Industrial Exhibition at Christchurch, and on November 21 will Unveil another war memorial at Flaxbourne. Their Excellencies expect to return to Wellington on November 25, nnd early in December will go into residence in Auckland. The late Mr. Louis William Ludwig, whose'death occurred last week, arrived in Wellington in the ’sixties, and as a youth joined his father in business as a watchmaker and jeweller, and after his father’s death carried on the business in premises at 210 Lambton Quay, for over 40 years. He retired and disposed of his bittiness about two years ago. since when he has lived privately. He was prominently connected with numerous sporting Associations for a number of years, being official timekeeper fnr the amateur Athletic Association. Wellington Boxing Association. and keenly interested, in the snort, of swimming. Tn the earlier days of Wellington Mr. Ludwig was a prominent member of the D Battery Artillery Volunteers. He was also well known on the Thortidon bowling green Tie is survived by .his widow, one son. F.rnest, residing in Cuba. West Indies and one married daughter. Mrs. A. E. Boyes, Diithie Karori. The funeral will leave this latter residence for Karori Cemetery at 3.15 this afternoon.

A Press Association message from Auckland states that the Prime Minister arrived from Wellington on Sunday morning. According to advices from Auckland Mr. H. Corrie, principal of the firm of Messrs. Alfred Buckland and Sons, died there suddenly from heart failure on Saturday. Deceased was president of the Auckland Racing Club for many years. , Mr. Alexander Crabb. Trade and Produce Officer in the High Commissioner’s Department, London, has arrived in New Zealand. The main object to his visit is to makehimseflf fully acquainted with the. position of the Dominion’s primary industries nt this end. with tho questions as tq produce as they arise in Great Britain. It is expected that Mr. Crabb will return to London early in the New Year. Dr. W. Stanley Wallis has been appointed to the position of medical superintendent of the King George Hospital, Rotorua, vice Dr. A. W. Flogg. who has resigned. Dr. Wallis has been on tile staff of the hospital for over two years, and has held the position of orthopaedic surgeon. Dr. Hogg intends to take up private practice in Temuka.
