TRIAL MARRIAGES
PRECOCIOUS AMERICAN CHILDREN DIVORCE AFTER SIX MONTHS BY TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION. —COPYBIGHT. (Rec. November 3, 9.5 p.ra.) r New York, November 3. At Lafayette, Indiana, an unusual marriage scheme evolved by local school children has resulted in three elopements within two days from one school. The participants range from fourteen to seventeen years of age. One couple have already been arrested, and are being brought back from Kansas City. _ . The idea’originated m the clubs. After much discussion, six boys and six girls signed a document, in which each his sweetheart agreed to marry and pledged themselves to grant a divorce after six months on being requested by either party. Three couples became frightened and refused to elope. The affair has caused a sensation. The police in several States are being asked to look out for trial-mar-riage pilgrims. —Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
