DRESS HINTS FROM PARIS. The dressmakers have succeeded in fcaking changes enough in the trunkings and various details to force wothen to bo dissatisfied with their clothes pf last season, despite the fact that the general lines remain the same, writes “Germaine" from Paris to the “Western Mail.".. The one feature upon which all dressmakers agree is the-one-piece frock worn with jackets. 'A certain house which has been showing its collection during the week if strong in this feature. Skirts of velours de laine of medium length have attached bodies of a contrasting colour, in various crepes, always with a dash of embroidery about them, worn with short box-jackets, which roach just to the hip line. ' Another house is showing an attractive collection of models on 6‘fflP 10 straight lines. There are a few of the Marie-Antoinette typo ( which give the collection the proper picturesque touch, but the wearable dresses are inyanab y straight. This dressmaker believes in the shorter waist-line, although she has hot made it altogether normal. She W showing day frocks of serge or woollen crepe of sombre tones with a belt in sorted at the waist-line and embroidei--1 cd in crepella. Lace plays a prominent part in the models. Silk laces aro numerous both in black and in colours, 'and, of course, there is the head and i tinsel' embroidery. • Wiolet and various shades of mauve are prominent in many of the collections. Orchid and cyclamen are favoured in models for evening wear, and there is a new colour called. Beechoff green,” which- is prominent in the collections. A speciality is made ■ of: even ing wraps of embroidered velvets and metal brocades trimmed in fur, ana fur coats and jackets. . A taupe dress has an attractive short jacket of taupe, which is made on very full and straight toes. The fur coats are exceptionally handsome and of good style ... The present mode of wearing hngh coloured millinery is navv expensive ready-made hats. A nai blue tailor-made and a cherry-coloured feH hat is a classic thought for cold lays A brown tailor-made with a brown hat trimmed with tango or orange is another pleasant combin tion Black and royal always look well together if the blue, is not overclone. Pah grey is much worn, and looks better with a dark grey tailor--1 E orov hat. Flowers are a lelp in inexpensive millinery. Cheap feathers and wings are rarely satisfnotary. There are clever imitations o aigrettes and moneka fur. and there are many decorative trimmings. Hats 'should bo bought with an eV therefore, the ready-made hat as seen in the big shops is usually smart but not of the best quality. As hats are worn but for a season this is.not »» important as with a. dress whch° mus Inst a year. One is inclined to say freshen up her toilette.
