An application for assistance to the Sir Arthur Pearson Memorial Fund was turned down by tho City Council last night, the Mayor remarking that the council had no money. It was resolved, however, to make a subscription to the Jubilee Institute for tho Blind London, iu order that 80 volumes of books most suitablo. for the blind might be procured for the Central Library.
