At the conclusion of the 1922 session of the Workers’ Educational Association’s advanced economics class, tiie secretary (Mr. B. Barker) announced that but for the unavoidable absence of Mr. H. Amos, it had been the intention of the class to present that gentleman with a smoker’s outfit, suitably inscribed, as a slight recognition of the material and. valuable help lie bad rendered to the class in particular, and to the Workers’ Educational Association generally. It was decided to hand the gift to Professor Murphy for presentation to Mr. Amos when a suitable occasion offers. It was mentioned that for two successive rears Mr. Amos had provided a room in Bank’s College free of charge for tly advanced economics class, and at considerable expense had furnished each student gratis with a synopsis of each lecture. Mr. Barker stated that Mr. Amos had expressed his intention of performing similar valuable and practical help for the class next year, which intimation was received with enthusiastic applause. A presentation of a suit-case was made to the tutor of tho class (Professor Murphy), as a slight token of the esteem and regard in which he is held by the students. In making the presentation, Mr. M. J. Forde said that without tutors of the stamn and quality of Professor Murphy, the Workers’ Educational Association would not be ab’e to giro full effect to the purpose for which it was intended In addition to the recognltwn of Professor Murphy’s wide knowledge and talents as a lectirrer. the students had acquired a personal regard and liking for him, and hoped that his services would be available flgwn acknowledging the gift and the kl3dly sentiments expressed by Mr. Forde on. behalf of the class, Professor Murphy said that he would again placehis services at the disposal of the Workers Educational Association next TTe congra iulatec! the class on the vear’s work, ?..nd predicted a snccossinl future for the Workers’ Educational Association.
