RAILWAY FARES
REDUCTION IN BRITAIN. (Rec. October 18, 11.50 p.m.) London, October 18. The railway companies in Britain announce that from January 1 thirdclass fares will be reduced to l£d. per mile, and first-class to 2|d., being a reduction of one-seventh on the present fares, and a reduction from 75 per cent, to 50 per cent, above the pre-war basis.—Aus.-N.Z.
