GLOVES AND A FUR STOLE
YOUNG GIRLS IN TOOUBLE. Two tearful girls appeared before Mr- AV. G. Riddell, S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court yesterday to answer charges of stealing a pair of gloves, valued at 12s. 6d. (the property ot persons unknown), and a fur stole, valued at £5, the property of Marion Vine. ' . , Chief-Detective Kemp said that as there were other charges of a similar nature pending, it would be necessary to ask for a remand until September 21. The girls in the meantime could remain in the custody of the Salvation Army authorities. 7 Mr 0. C. Mazerigarb said he had been instructed by the parents to ask that bail be fixed. The girls, however, would not sign a bond; they felt their position so strongly that they would not go home. Bail was fixed at £5O. ... An order was made prohibiting publication of the names.
