N.Z. COLLEGE TEAM FOR ENGLAND
TO THE EDITOR. Si r .—Witnessing the magnificent exposition of Rugby football given by the lads of the Wellington and \\anganui Colleges on the College ground on Saturday, one could not help but being impressed, not only by the splendid game the boys play, but the excellence of their stamina as evidenced in their appearance and endurance. It struck me that if New Zealand wanted a real advertisement—an advertisement which would appeal to everyone—the idea of (sending abroad a team of college lade—the cream of the players from the various centres — would be strikingly effective. The Empire Exhibition is to be held in 1924, when there promises to be a big Empire gathering in the Old Country. If a big Public School tournament could be arranged to be played in the stadium there, towards the end of that year, I am, sure it would bo a mighty attraction, and would give New Zealand a chance to show samples of it’s voung brawn and brain in action. Admitting that the financial arangementa for Buch a trip might be difficult to arrange, I would suggest that if the idea falls on fruitfull ground, the Government might devote a portion of its Exhibition grant towards the proposal, being convinced that it would be fullv justified in the advertisement the Dominion would gain.—I am, etc., “CLEAN RUGBY.”
