PETONE-PONEKE MATCH TO-DAY. The club championship of the Wellington Rugby Union will be brought to a close to-day by the final between Petone and Poneke, last year’s champions. Both teams suffer through injuries and absence of players. Petone have had to bring one of their three, quarters up into the forward lino, </.ving to four of their forwards being injured, and another, Nankeryillo. having left for Christchurch. Poneke also have a reconstructed team. Tunnington, thier wing three-quarter, who has been on the injured list for some time, will play, and B. Algar, who has dislocated his shoulder twice thia season, intends to take the field. Following are the teams :— Poneke: Full-back, Christopherson; three-quarters. Tunnington; B. HIGH SCHOOLS’ TOURNEY. BY tblegbaph—Puess Association. Invercargill, August 25. The annual high schools’ football tournament began to-day. The weathgr was wet and the ground heavy. Timaru defeated Christchurch by 6 to 3, and Southland defeated Otago by 8 to 3.
Tn the intermediate grade, both Onslow and Scots College will default, as also will Institute, who were to play Eastbourne, in the fifth class. The following will represent Old Boys, intermediate, versus Selwyn A, dt Lyall Bay No. 2, at 1.15 p.m.:— Newton, Coughlan, Pierard, Waters, McDuff, Paul, Masters, Bailey, Grady, Paterson, Herd. S.
