A STOLEN LETTER
“VERY SERIOUS OFFENCE” BY TELEGRAPH.—KRUKS ASSOCIATION. Wanganui, August 25. At the Supreme Court to-day, J. A. Dawkins was sentenced for tho theft of a postal packet at Mangaweka to twelve months’ reformative detention. The Judge made a recommendation that he should be sent to an industrial school until he is twenty-one years of ago. His Honour pointed out that the offence was one in which he could not grant probation, except in very exceptional circumstances. It was a very serious offence to interfere with letters passing through the' Post Office. Herbert Williams, for breaking and entering and theft, at Waverley, was sentenced to twelve months’ reformative detention.
