WATERSIDERS V. THISTLE. A great game is expected on the Basin Reserve to-morrow, when the Waterside and Thistle teams, will try conclusions. The last occasion these teams mot resulted in a draw of one goal each, after one of tho finest exhibitions of Soccer seen in Wellington, and the return match has been eagerly looked for. Both teams aro in tho pink of condition, and have been training hard for to-morrow’s game. Nine of Wellington’s representative team against the Australians will be playing. Each side is out to win, as tho result of this match should form a guide as to the ultimate winners of tho 1922 championship. Thistle are considered to have the strongest defence in Wellington football, and tho wearers of Aston Villa colours have a rattling good forward lino, which will keep tho Thist'e backs busy. Given fine weather, tho gamo should bo one worth/ going a long way to witness Mr. W. G. Bryco will carry the whistle. •
WELLINGTON AND MANAWATU. A Wellington third-class team played Manawatu nt Palmerston as a cur-tain-raiser to the Australia v. Manawatu game on "Wednesday. The "Wellington team, playing together for tho first time this season, combined well and ran the Palmerston men to a standstill, winning by 3 —o. Bentley, the Wellington goalkeeper, made some fine saves. Gill and King played well at full-back, also Mouag at centrehalf. Schultz, inside-left, scored two goals, and Orr, centre-forward, ono goal; Schultz being awarded the Wellington Football Association’s gold medal for his plriy on the day, playing n splendid game.
