Mrs. H. R. Kirk, of Wanganui, is visiting Petone. As part of the U.S. Government s economy programme, navy mine-layers will, it is reported, be used to lay buoys.

The wedding took place in St. Peter’s Church yesterday or Miss Rita Maule, youngest daughter of Mr. and Airs. G. Maule, of Petone, and' Air. Leslie M. Willis, third son of Air. H. J. Willis, of Brooklyn, Wellington. The Ven. Archdeacon Watson, AI.A., officiated at Hie ceremony. The bride, who entered the church on the arm of her father, wore a dress of ivory crepe-de-chine, ■fche over-panels being prettily embroidered with silk braid, and the corsage finished with silver-beaded tassels. A silk embroidered veil was fastened with orange blossoms, and she carried an American shower bouquet. The bridesmaids wero Aliss Olive Willis (sister of the bridegroom), who wore powderblue crepe-de-chine caught at the waist with streamers and long silver spray, and black lace hat with streamers ; and Miss Alabel Thorpe, who was in a delicately shaded shell pink' georgette frock, embroidered with blue beads and finished at the waist with bunches of powder-blue grapes. Her hat was. of black tulle finished with streamers. Each carried shower bouquets with tulle streamers to match. The best man was Air. W. P. Afaule, brother of the bride, and the groomsman was Mr. C. Willis. After the ceremony a reception was held in tho Carlton Hall, where a large number of guests sat down to the breakfast. Airs. Afaule received in a tailored navy costume and hat to match. After the reception the bride and bridegroom left by motor for the north, the bride’s going-away dress being a khaki gabardine costume and black panne hat to match.>
