PROPOSAL TO TAKE OVER BOYD COLLECTION. BY TZLKaRATH—AFSOrrATTO’: Auckland, June 27 The City Council to-night decided to take a poll of the ratepayers on a proposal io borrow £lBO,OOO to purchase the animals from Boyd’s zoo at Onehunga, which has been closed owing to tho borough council passing a bv-law prohibiting the keeping of wild ‘ animals within the borough, and which has led to considerable litigation. The City Council proposes that the zoo be located at Western 'Springs, Grey Lynn.
