EVENLY MATCHED SENIOR GAMES The grounds at Karori Park were in first rate order, and the majority of the games were fast. The senior games were well contested, and there were no runaway scores. Spectators, of whom many were present, saw some good hockey, and although there were instances of wild slogging, the general standard of play was, as was only natural, an improvement upon that on the previous Saturday. , t SENIOR. RAMBLERS (3) BEAT KARORI (2). This was a closely contested game, and attracted the interest of /the majority of the spectators. Both sides were very keen. In the first spell Karori pressed, and goals were scored by Lowry '‘and Lewe r . Ramblers came to light in the second half, however, and soon' after starting Gaines scored a neat goal from a difficult angle, and Lloyd and Heaply, despite a determined resistance by Karori, added two more to Ramblers’ score by the time the final whistle blew. Mr. Cusack refereed the game. .WESLEY AND HUIA DRAW. The meeting of Wesley and Huia provided a remarkably fast game. The teams were closely matched, though it appeared that Wesley had the better chance at half-time, wheii the score was 2 to nil. For Huia, Harris played a first-class game, and the Huia forwards did good work. For Wesley, the most conspicuous players were Harper (fullback) and Mills (centre forward). Goals were scored for Huia by Stacey (2) and Butcher, and for Wesley hv Burton, Stokes, and Philpott. Mr. Lloyd was referee. ’VARSITY (4), WELLINGTON , UNITED (3). Wellington United were on the verge of scoring several times in the first half, but were not quite nippy enough, and the score at half-time was 3 to nil against them. ’Varsity showed very good form. In the second spell Wellington United pulled themselves' together and scored three goals, but ’Varsity, scoring a goal off a United player, saved the match from being a draw. Goals were scored for ’Varsity by Connor (2) and Fogan, and for United by Hogan, Ashworth, and another. JUNIOR. Wesley beat Wellington United, 1— Wellington United beat ’Varsity, 2— Wesley drew with Training College, 3 3 Wakatu beat Karopi 3—2. THIRD dRADE., Training College beat Wesley B, 14 —nil. Wesley boat Y.M.C.A., 6 —2. LADIES’ HOCKEY SENIOR. Ramblefs B beat Base Records, I—o. Ramblers A beat Hilia, 13—0. JUNIOR. Tui beat St. Peter’s. 9 —o Potone defeated Hutt by one goal to nil. Miss S. Aitchison was the scorer.
