“LYING ON DAMP SHEETS!”
Once Lord Melbourne was severely attacked bv an editor in his paper. The following day Lord Melbourne met the editor, who was very much wrapper! up, and asked how he. did. The editor said that he had a very bad cold. “Ah,” said Lord Melbourne. that comes of lying on damp sheets ’ 1 _ [The reference is to the old method of damping paper before it was printed on.]
