RUGBY

- f THIS AFTERNOON’S TESTS. To-day’s draw for the senior grade Competition of the Wellington Rugby Union is an interesting one, for it is quite likely that the lead in the championship table may be altered as a resuit or the matches. At present Ath'letio and Oriental are leading, with four points each, being tlje only two teams that have won both matches played. Athletic are to meet Petone at the Petone Recreation ground. Their final team has npt been selected. In addition to the fifteen that played last Saturday, Duncan is also in the selection. Petone Club do not make the rule of publishing their team in advance. Oriental, the other leading team, are billed to meet Poneke at Athletic Park, so that the union has provided a good double bill for city and suburban dwellers. The disposition of the Oriental team has undergone many changes. Holev is standing down from full-back, and Burton drops back from the threequarter line. Wilson is the -only one of last Saturday’s three-ouarters that retains that place. Carroll goes up to five-eighth, changing places with K. Smith. Muir takes Parker’s place in the forwards. Jack Shearar will come into the Poneke 'forwards. The other matches are Berhampore v. Old Boys; ’Varsity v. Selwyn, find Marist v. Wellington. Selwyn and Wellington are the only teams that have not yet won a match. Owing to the similarity of the colours of Marist and Selwyn, it has been decided that where these teams meet *2»h other, one or other will be provided by the union with distinguishing jerseys. Likely winners of to-day’s senior matches’are: Poneke, Berhampore, Petone, ’Varsity, and Marist. In order to facilitate dealing with the crowd expected to patronise the matches this season a stile has been opened at the back of the new terraces opening through the vacant section on the Adelaide Rpad side of the Athletic Park. This gives direct access to the terraces, and the public are advised to make use of the entrance and exit here as much as possible. Teachers’ Training College have defaulted in both junior and third-class, owing to'the holidays.
