By Glencoe. The winter meeting of the Egmont Racing Club will open to-morrow and will be concluded' on Thursday. Racing will commence at 11 a.m. each day. The weights for the Wanganui and Auckland meetings made their appearance yesterday. As a whole, they were well received, though most people were prepared to see. Ngata get more than lOst. 131 b. in the Great Northern Steeplechase. The cables did not advise us whether the stallion Egypt was sold at the Sydney sales, but stud groom E. Brandon, who' returned yesterday, states that Desert Gold’s brother was sold to tho Wagga breeder, Mr. J. McGrath, for 350gns. Top price for brood mares at the Svdnoy sales was brought by the Okawa-bred Belfry (Demosthenes—La Cloche), who realised 310gns. Eleven horses were on tho Sydney boat which arrived yesterday afternoon. They included Mr. K. D. Duncan’s horses Solfnnello and Vindictive, who failed to find buyers on the other side and also the yearlings purchased on behalf of New Zealand owners. In addition to tho Magpie—Maltee colt, purchased by Mr. E. J. V att for Mr.. Charles Elgar, of Featherston, a Tressady—Silverfoil colt was also secured for the same owner. Both youngsters arrived yesterday, and were taken charge of by Trainer P. E. Hnzolman. They are to be railed to thoir new home this morning.' The Southland owner, Mr. A. G. Hill, was a free buyer at the Sydney yearling sales, and altogether he secured four lots. They are a bay colt bv Buckwheat from St. Regis, black colt bv Sir Dighton from Apple Blossom, bay filly bv Eaton Lad from For- ’ micary, and a bay filly by Roseworthy from Court Martin], The youngsters camo over in charge of E. The mare is the property of tho well-known Sydney owner Mr. J. Brennan. Mr G. D. Greenwood’s Tressady— Lady Grafton colt arrived from Sydney yesterday along with the Shopherd

King colt purchased for a Canterbury friend. They were shipped on to Lyttelton by the ferry steamer in charge of J. Brandon, a son of the wellknown stud groom of that name. Tho Trontham trainer J. Pritchard s stable is the aged gelding Goldshino, who is to be prepared for hurdle racing. A yearling filly by Treadmill from Ayah has been attached to H. Lorigan’s stables at Trontham. Solfanello and Vindictive, who arrived back from Svdney yesterday in charge of H. R. Telford, are to bo turned out for a few weeks’ spell in the paddock. With the exception of Blackmail and Sunny Corner, whrf have immediate engagements, the whole of H.
