P. AND T. OFFICERS
THE COMING CONFERENCE THE DELEGATES TO DECIDE The dispute between the PostmasterGeneral and the P. and T. Officers’ Association concerning the proposed affiliation of the association with the Alliance of Labour is at a standstill pending the conference of delegates. The executive of the association has referred the decision to this conference, but is expected to make certain recommendations. The date originally fixed, for the conference, was May 9, but it is reported that the delegates may meet at th« end of next week.
ABOUT RESIGNATIONS • THE SECRETARY’S LETTER OP ACKNOWLEDGMENT. A copy of the following letter ha« . been received from a private soui c« by the “Manawatu Daily Times” ; (which remarks: “One may judge from its stress that, instead of flocking home, the chickens are seeking another barn yard where the roost is more secure”): — “Dear Sir or Madam.—Resignation from Association. —I have to acknowledge receipt of your resignation, and to advise you that your name has been removed from our roll in compliance with your wishes. While regretting your decision in the matter, the association all along recognised that .the question of affiliation with the Alliance of Labour was one on .which opinion would be sharply divided, and that, necessarily, some of tho keen ' opponents of the proposal would sever their connection with this organisation should the ballot go in the direction.it has done. A time comes in the affairs ■ of all people when, either privately or officially, they have to take a stand on their own behalf or ho prepared to see the clock of progress run . backward s., It is believed that this is just such a time where the association is concerned. Every effort will be bent in the direction of successfully carrying the association over its present difficulties so that it may again reach the position when fair representation on fair Questions will receive fair consideration. When that day arrives it is intended to again appeal for your individual supjxirt on the basis that your present attitude towards us is a •mistaken one, and we are all liable to errors of judgment.—Yours faithfully, (Sgd.) H. E. Combs, Secretary.;
