PRISONER’S APPEAL DISMISSED

The Court of Appeal yesterday dismissed! the' appeal of Murray against a sentence of two and a half years’ imprisonment with hard labour. The total value of goods stolen was £500; tho thefts were carried out over a period of months, Murray having a key to the premises. The Court considered the sentence not excessive, and pointed out that the Prisons Board had power to grant probation when half the sentence was served, if Murray’s conduct warranted it.
