MEETING OE BOARD OK GOVERNORS. At a meeting of the Board of Governors of the Boys’ and Girls’ Colleges yesterday Mr. Ward (chairman) presided, and Sir E. Gibbes and Messrs. W. P. Barber, W. H. Denton, T. Forsyth, and R. A. Wright, M.P., wore present. , - , The statement of finances snowed a debit balance of £3ll 6s. sd. On the recommendation of Mrs. McLean, Miss M. Blacker and Mrs. Hursthouse were appointed to the vacant assistantships. Miss McLean reported that the pupils had been removed from Sydney Street (at the request of the Department), and 1 clas.ses had to be placed in the central hall and laboratory—not at all an ideal arrangement.. Mr. T. R- Cresswell, principal of the Boys’ College, reported that the roll totalled 766, and the average attendance 716. The applications for admission of pupils had. been in excess of the accommodation. He had) hoped that the new. buildings would be ready for occupation in the second term of ,1923, but the chance of this eventuating seemed to be small.
