AIRSHIP SCHEME
GOVERNMENT SUBSIDIES ASKED FOR
SERVICE TO AUSTRALIA PROPOSED

The promoters of the airship scheme include the Vickers Shell Oil Group. The company asks for an annual subtidy of £91,000 from the British Government, and £40,000 each from India and Australia Until it is able to pay a dividend unsupported. It proposes out of a. capital of four millions spending £3,400,000 on new airships, and hopes to establish a bi-weekly service with India, with a weekly extension to Australia.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
[The “Pall Mall Gazette” announced a few days ago that a syndicate, backed by a firm of armament makers, had been formed with the object of acquiring the British Government’s airships, in the hope of later arranging regular trans-Atlantic and Indian services.]
