Christchurch, March 18. Robert Dasler, a labourer, of Sydenham, was arrested to-day for alleged manslaughter of Edward Samuel Darrell, who died in the Christchurch Hospital on March 13. At the inquest on Darrell early in the week, it transpired that deceased was found lying at the back of the Opera House on the evening of March 6. He was arrested for drunkenness, but was subsequently admitted to the Christchurch Hospital. There he complained that he had fallen and hurt his head. Prior to arrest, Dasler had stated to the police that he and d.ceased, on the afternoon of March 6, had had an altercation, after which blows were struck.
