HUTCHISON ROAD TIP
REPLY TO THE DEPUTATION. The City Council last night endorsed the following; reply to the deputation’s request made at last meeting to abolish the Hutchison Road rubbish tip:— The committee reported that, they had again carefully considered the matter of the Hutchison Road tip referred to by the deputation to the council at its last meeting, and in view of t]ie assurance given by the city engineer that no objectionable or offensive matter of anv kind was to be deposited at tile tip, the committee could not see its way to suggest any alternative method for the disposal of city rubbish at present. Instructions were being given that benzine and kerosene tins were not tn be received at the dump unless flattened. The committee had asked the city engineer to report regarding provision for the disposal of rubbish, having regard to future requirements of the citv. and ihe matter would form the subject of a recommendation to the council later. Councillor Fraser opposed the rotoniinendation, (but was glad to fioliee the whole matter would be gone into later. The renort was adopted after a division.
