OVERSEA SETTLEMENT
DISPATCH OF 25,003 EX-SERVICE MEN THIS YEAR CIVILIAN SCHEME TO BE INAUGURATED. by telecbaph—press association. —OOPYBIGHT. (Roc. March 2, 9.45 p.m.) London, March 1. The Oversea® Settlement Committee anticipates the dispatch this year of another 25,000 ex-service men, including dependants, thereby bringing the total to over a hundred thousand, at a total cost te the Imperial Government of two millions and a quarter upon ex-service men alone. Probably the majority will be dispatched to Australasia. It is understood the Government Bill promised this session will follow up the ex-service scheme by. a civilian scheme based on tho Imperial Conference migrations decisions. The Imperial Government intend to allocate £1,250,000 during 1922-23, provided the Dominion Governments desiring emigrants will contribute equally. It is improbable the civilian scheme will bo inaugurated until ex-service men are exhausted—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
