A correspondent writes to the “Manawatu 'rimes” To my simple mind the most discussed and apparently best authenticated of all 11atana’s “alleged cures” has a perfectly natural explanation, though the lady concerned, and all who knew her, think it is a miracle, and so it might well appear. For nineteen years she had lain helpless with spinal trouble, and was supported by steel bands. With tlje doctor’s approval, she wrote to Batana, and even before receiving his direction to pray, endeavoured to stretch her hands in a becoming attitude, when she felt a distinct “clieL” of the spinal column and was immediately able to walk. The fact of the matter is that there had been a slight displacement of the vertebrae, which pressed upon the nerves passing through the joint, a common occurrence in surgery. Hie lady is now visiting Palmerston. So this information is gained direct, although she does not agree with my conclusions.
